Apache Indian, whose real name is Steven Kapur, was born and raised in Birmingham. He has always cherished his East Indian heritage and loves Reggae music, which is why his own music reflects the influences of Bhangra and Bollywood.
Apache has had three number one hits and is often regarded as the ‘Don Raja’ of British Raggee. He achieved international acclaim by touring the world five times over and he has won numerous awards throughout his career. He’s gained seven top 40 UK hits, four Brit Award nominations and a Mercury Music nomination.
His hit single Boomshackalak has been featured in seven Hollywood films including ‘Dumb & Dumber’ and ‘Scooby Doo 2’ and has featured in over 75 TV commercials around the world.
Apache has also presented his own show on BBC Radio 1 as well as ‘Karma Confusion’ from India, which won him a CRE Award. Apache has also presented the ‘MTV Reggae Sound System’ from Jamaica; ‘Apache Goes Indian’ for Channel 4 and ‘Soul Music’ for Carlton TV.
Nowadays, Apache now runs his own bar in Birmingham city centre called 'Apaches' where he supports live bands, music artists and mentors within the community.
