Greg James presents weekday Afternoons (1-4pm) on BBC Radio 1. This is after two years at the helm of Radio 1’s Early Breakfast Show, a show he landed while graduating from University.
Not just a face for radio, Greg is now in demand for various TV shows. He has presented Sound on BBC2’s Switch and he hosted the backstage winners podium at the 2009 Brit Awards. He is also a regular presenter of entertainment news on E24 for the BBC.
Greg’s media career began when he was completing his finals in Drama at the University of East Anglia when he was asked to cover five Fridays for the Early Breakfast show. He was on his way to his graduation ball when he was called back to deputise for Sara Cox at the last minute. Since then he’s become the regular stand in presenter for Scott Mills’ Drivetime show, as well as sitting in for a variety of shows including Jo Whiley, The Surgery, BBC Switch and the Radio 1 Request Show and the Radio 1 Breakfast show.
Greg picked up the ‘Best Male Presenter’ award at the Student Radio Awards in 2005 for his work on UEA’s student station, Livewire – a station where he was also Station Manager. Following his award he also presented many cover shows across the Galaxy network as well as working with the Sports team at BBC Radio Norfolk before being asked to return to pilot for Radio 1.

And in the summer was asked to do a show from BCM Square in Mallorca with Judge Jules. He has also put his new qualification in acting to use during a cameo in BBC 1’s Eastenders as a DJ at the Queen Vic!
As well as being a huge music and theatre fan Greg is also a keen cricketer and tennis player which he fits in between being on the radio.
