Live and Unsigned Success At This Years Eurovision

Performing in front of millions of viewers on Saturday night, two Live and Unsigned Regional winners made it into the final six contestants of Your Country Needs You, and one of them has been crowned the winner!

Josh Dubovie, who made it through the Live and Unsigned live shows in London in 2008, will now be representing the country at the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest. Josh was automatically identified as a future star when he battled thousands of other unsigned musicians from across the UK in Live and Unsigned. And he’s now fulfilling the judge’s predictions, after successfully beating off competition and will now be representing the country.

He triumphed live on BBC1 on Saturday night, in front of millions of viewers. Josh sung on the television programme Your Country Needs You! And performed That Sounds Good To Me, which was penned by legendary producer Pete Waterman and his long time collaborator Mike Stock. Josh will be leading the way for the UK on May 29 in Oslo, Norway.

Karen Harding, who was also in the running to sing for the country this year, has also previously competed in Live and Unsigned. She initially auditioned in Newcastle and her raw talent was undeniable. She was immediately signed up by one of the judges on the day, Gary Thompson of Quayside Management Group.

Karen made it to the final six contestants for the 2010 Eurovision entry and narrowly missed out on the top spot. Her career to date is already impressive – having beaten X Factor’s Joe McElderry in music competition Music Means Life.

Alan Farmer, Director of Live and Unsigned, said, “This is fantastic news! I was so excited to hear they had both done so well. It’s an unbelievable achievement – their performance on Saturday night was seen by millions of viewers and they have done incredibly well to beat off the stiff competition. When Josh auditioned for us, I knew he was going to go far because of his determination and voice. I will of course be watching his performance and wish him all the best in flying the flag for the UK.”
