More Exclusive Master Classes On Offer!

Live and Unsigned’s development policy has meant acts entering the 2010 competition have enjoyed exclusive master classes with some of the biggest names in the industry, courtesy of ICMP www.icmp.co.uk They’ve been able to take part in practical classes, learn and develop new techniques and get involved in exclusive Q&A sessions. And it’s just been announced, there are more on offer!

There are five spaces at each event exclusively open to Live and Unsigned finalists! They’re on a first come first serve basis – keep an eye on your email for all the details!

Phil Castang – Festival Management Master class, March 22nd

Phil, IGF’s Managing Director, will be leading the Festival Management Master class. He will cover everything you would ever want to know about festival management in this exclusive session. He’ll be covering topics including programming, fundraising, marketing and PR and will be developing creative concepts – not one to miss if you fancy putting on the next Glastonbury.

Pat Petrillo – Drums, March 25th

Legendary drummer and world-class clinician, Pat Petrillo, will be heading up this drumming master class. Having worked alongside mega stars Gloria Gaynor and Patti LeBelle, Phil is well versed on the drumming community and will be covering everything from hand techniques, grooves and fill ideas to ‘the business of music’. He’ll also be available for a Q&A session.

Laurence Cottle – Bass, April 15th

Laurence has played with many of the world’s great monosyllabic musicians including Sting, Cher and Seal and will be on hand to offer his advice and guidance to acts attending this master class. Laurence’s background in music is diverse. From playing bass on Headless Cross with Black Sabbath to performing on the soundtrack of Britney Spears movie Cross Roads, his experience is undoubtedly varied. He has also worked with Eric Clapton and The Bee Gees and has composed music that’s been featured in shows like Friends, Entertainment Tonight and The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Dave Marks and Darren Ashford – Groove, April 19th

This groove based master class is a must for any musician wanting to work on bass and drum. Featuring two of ICMP’s finest tutors, bass tutor Dave Marks and drum tutor Darren Ashford will be presenting a progressive approach to developing sense of time and feel, and helping to unlock the secrets behind a selection of ‘classic’ grooves. This master class will be held in association with the Rhythm of London Festival.

Tom Doughty – Slide Guitar, April 22nd

Fingerstyle master Tom Doughty will be presenting this exclusive class. Specializing in slide guitar, he is a master of his craft and will share tips and tricks, as well as his experience in the industry from recording to technique!

Billy Sheehan – Bass, April 28th

Amazing bassist Billy Sheehan has worked with some of the best names in music including Steve Vai, David Lee Roth and Mr. Big. Billy will be hosting an interactive clinic to help students improve their playing, as well as get their questions answered by a master of his instrument and the music industry.

Amit Chatterjee – Contemporary Music, May 17th

Visiting faculty member Amit Chatterjee will return to the ICMP to host one of his always popular master classes. A guitarist and musician of international repute, Amit will bring his inspiring insights into contemporary music to students, as well as perform with members of the ICMP faculty.
